Product Overview
Major rebuild impeller kit for the Yanmar 1GM and 1GM10 raw sea water pump, replacing impeller 128176-42070, 128176-42071 and 128176-42090 and covering pump 128170-42000 and 128170-42200. The impeller is 32 mm diameter, 12 mm wide on an 8 mm single flat shaft with 6 blades.
This is the full rebuild rather than the impeller only. It includes the pump cover, the two cover bearings, the water and oil lip seals and the retaining rings, which is what a pump that has been weeping sea water actually needs. An impeller on its own in a worn cover still loses flow.
The 1GM and 1GM10 are the small single cylinder Yanmar diesels in sailboats, and the raw water pump is driven off the front of the engine. If the pump has been leaking from the telltale, the shaft and the bearings are already running in salt water and the rebuild kit is the right answer rather than a second impeller.

Before You Buy
- Check the cover has three screws, the earlier two bolt cover uses a different kit
- Check the shaft is 8 mm with a single flat, the splined drive pump is a different impeller
- Check the cam and the pump body bore for scoring while the pump is apart, neither is in this kit
- Close the raw water seacock and drain the pump before starting, and check the hose clips are sound on refit
- Oil the new lip seals before assembly and pack the bearings with water resistant grease
- Open the seacock before starting and check for a steady flow at the exhaust within 30 seconds
- Check the pump body does not weep at the telltale after the first hour of running under load
