Marine Fuel Connector 3/8 Inch Hose Barb 176445 775641 18-8092 for Johnson Evinrude OMC Outboard 105 125 HP — Germany Local Warehouse
Marine Fuel Connector 3/8 Inch Hose Barb 176445 775641 18-8092 for Johnson Evinrude OMC Outboard 105 125 HP — Germany Local Warehouse
Product Overview
Marine fuel connector part for Johnson and Evinrude outboards, with a 3/8 inch (9.5 mm) hose barb and the two prong clip that locks it onto the tank or engine fitting. It replaces OMC 176445 and 775641 and crosses to Sierra 18-8092 and Mallory 9-38015. Shipped from our Germany local warehouse.
The body is marine grade brass with a polished finish, and it mates with the Johnson Evinrude female quick connect 502867 and 772681. It pushes on with no tools, which matters on a fuel line that comes off at the slip every trip.
3/8 inch is the larger of the two common OMC sizes. The 5/16 inch (8 mm) version is a different connector and does not interchange, so measure the hose bore before ordering rather than the outside of the hose.

E10 and the Fuel Line
| German Fuel Reality | Effect on the Line | What To Do |
|---|---|---|
| E10 petrol at the pump | Ethanol attacks older rubber hose from the inside | Use ethanol rated hose, check it each season |
| Fuel left in the line over winter | Ethanol absorbs water and the hose softens | Run the motor dry before lay up |
| Hose hardened at the barb | Clamp cannot seal, fuel weeps at the joint | Cut back 20 mm and refit on fresh hose |
| Fuel smell in the locker | Usually the female quick connect O-ring, not the barb | Check both ends before changing parts |
| Tank stored full over winter | Less condensation, but ethanol still separates | Store full and add a stabiliser |
| Old grey hose on a 1980s motor | Not rated for ethanol, degrades quickly | Renew the whole line with the connector |
Fuel Smell: Where It Comes From
| What You Notice | Usual Cause | Check First |
|---|---|---|
| Smell at the tank connector | Worn O-ring in the female quick connect | The connector itself, not the barb |
| Smell at the engine end | Barb not seated or the clamp is loose | Hose end cut square and a stainless clamp |
| Smell after filling the tank | Vent or filler cap gasket | Tank vent, not the fuel line |
| Smell only when the motor is tilted | Fuel running back past a tired connector | Connector and the primer bulb |
| Smell in the locker, no visible leak | Hose perished under the braid | Flex the hose between your fingers |
| Bulb will not stay hard | Air entering at the connector or the bulb valve | Connector clip seated, bulb not cracked |
Which Connector Do You Have
| Hose Bore | Connector | Where It Is Used |
|---|---|---|
| 3/8 inch (9.5 mm) | This connector, 176445 | Larger OMC outboards, 105 HP and 125 HP V4 |
| 5/16 inch (8 mm) | Smaller OMC connector | Most 2 to 90 HP Johnson Evinrude motors |
| 1/4 inch (6.35 mm) | Small portable tank fitting | Tiller motors and small tenders |
| Mercury bayonet | Not interchangeable | Mercury and Mariner fuel tanks |
| Yamaha bayonet | Not interchangeable | Yamaha tanks and engines |
Fitting Notes
| Step | Action |
|---|---|
| 1 | Measure the hose bore, 3/8 inch is 9.5 mm, the 5/16 inch (8 mm) connector will not fit it |
| 2 | Match the old connector against 176445 or 18-8092, the Mercury fitting uses a different latch |
| 3 | Cut the old hose back square before fitting, a ragged end weeps past the barb |
| 4 | Push the connector fully home until the two prong clip clicks |
| 5 | Use a stainless clamp on the barb, a plastic tie will not hold fuel pressure |
| 6 | Check the female quick connect on the tank for a worn O-ring while it is apart |
| 7 | Prime the bulb and check both joints before starting |
| 8 | Check the joints again after the first run, then at lay up |
