Oil Filter 16510-05240 for Suzuki DF9.9 DF15 DF8A DF20A 4 Stroke Outboard 16510-45H10
Oil Filter 16510-05240 for Suzuki DF9.9 DF15 DF8A DF20A 4 Stroke Outboard 16510-45H10
Product Overview
Oil filter for Suzuki DF8A, DF9.9, DF15 and DF20A four stroke outboards, the spin on element that takes the metal and sludge out of the engine oil before it goes back round the bearings. It replaces Suzuki 16510-05240 and 16510-45H10, it is a straight swap for the filter on the engine now, and it ships as one filter in a 150 mm x 100 mm x 50 mm box at 80 g.
These small four strokes hold less than two litres of oil, so the filter is doing the same work as a car filter with far less oil to dilute what it catches. The result is that the filter matters more, not less: a filter left on for a second season is the usual reason a DF9.9 or DF15 starts to show low oil pressure at idle and a top end rattle on a cold start.
The filter is replaced at every oil change, and the change is quick on these engines because the filter sits on the side of the block with clear access. Warm the engine first, drain the oil, spin the old filter off, wipe the seat, oil the new gasket and fit the new filter by hand.
Cross threaded or over tightened filters are the usual cause of a leak after a service, so the new filter only needs to be turned by hand until the gasket touches, then a further three quarters of a turn. Check the oil level after the first run and again after the engine has cooled.
Fitment covers the DF15 from 1996 to 2012, the DF15A from 2013 to 2017, the DF8A from 2010 to 2017, the DF9.9 from 1996 to 2013, the DF9.9A from 2010 to 2017, the DF9.9B from 2013 to 2017 and the DF20A from 2013 to 2017. Match the model and year on the engine plate against the table, and check the part number on the filter that comes off against 16510-05240.
