Product Overview
Power trim seal kit in the 10 x 8 x 3 cm pack size, the complete set of hydraulic seals for one Mercury MerCruiser trim cylinder. It replaces MerCruiser 25-87400A2 and 87400 and fits Sierra 18-2649, covering the R, MR and Alpha One drives of 1983 to 1990, the Alpha One Gen II from 1991, the Blackhawk and every Bravo drive. Kept in our United Kingdom local warehouse.
A boat that stays on a berth all year gives you the diagnosis for free. Put the drive down, leave it an hour, and look at where the leg has settled. If it has crept up or dropped on its own, the cylinder is passing fluid past a seal. The trim pump is almost never the cause, and neither is the sender.
Doing the job alongside rather than on the hard is possible if the boat is on a pontoon with a ladder, but it is a wet, awkward afternoon. Most owners take the boat out for a tide, take the cylinder home, reseal it on a bench and refit the following weekend. Either way, the parts are the same kit.
