Product Overview
Power trim tilt cylinder end cap assembly 878239A02 that fits Mercury and Mariner 135 HP to 225 HP outboards, replacing 878239, 878239A1, 811606, 878412A1, 8M0090322 and FSM042, with a new oil seal and both O rings already fitted. The cap is 15 cm across the pack and 180 g with packing.
Fitment is by serial number rather than by year: the 135 HP and 150 HP run 0G610050 to 0G856999, the 200 HP EFI runs 1B504989 to 2B528096, the 225 HP DFI runs 1B504989 to 2B535086, and the 225 HP DFI DTS runs from 1B504989 upward. The full list is in the fitment table.
The end cap is where a trim cylinder weeps. Water sits in the trim ram cavity, the wiper lets salt past, the oil seal hardens, and the motor starts to creep down overnight or leaves an oil film on the water. By the time the trim moves slowly the cap bore is usually scored, so the cap comes as a complete assembly with the seal and both O rings rather than as loose parts.
