Product Overview
Propeller shear pin kit for Mercury Mariner 2.2 HP, 2.5 HP and 3.3 HP two-stroke outboards and 2.5 HP and 3.5 HP four-stroke outboards, and for Nissan Tohatsu 2 HP to 3.5 HP models, supplied as 2 shear pins, 1 cotter pin and 1 drive key. It replaces Mercury 17-95372, 17-815111, 17-815111002 and 17-815111Q02, and Nissan Tohatsu 309641261, 9515030435, 9515030435M, 28-16155 and 369-65022-0, with the cotter pin crossing to 18-95295 and 18-95295Q. The shear pin is the deliberate weak link between the prop shaft and the propeller: strike a rock, a mooring line or a sandbar and the pin parts so the gearcase and shafts survive. A sheared pin leaves you without drive, and the old cotter pin is normally too bent to reuse, so this kit carries a second shear pin as the spare.

Before You Buy
- Confirm the engine is 2.2, 2.5, 3.3 or 3.5 HP and note whether it is two-stroke or four-stroke
- Never fit a steel bolt in place of the shear pin, it moves the shock load into the gearcase
- Renew the cotter pin every time the propeller comes off, a straightened one will let go
- Keep the second shear pin aboard with the tools, a spare is no use in the garage
- Check the prop shaft and the key slot for wear while the propeller is off
