Thermostat 160 F 807252T2 for MerCruiser 4.3L 5.0L 5.7L V6 V8 Sterndrive
Thermostat 160 F 807252T2 for MerCruiser 4.3L 5.0L 5.7L V6 V8 Sterndrive
Product Overview
Thermostat for the MerCruiser 4.3L, 5.0L, 5.7L, 6.2L and big block V8 sterndrive and inboard engines, supplied as 1 x thermostat. This is the part that holds the engine at its running temperature by opening the cooling water flow once it is warm. It is rated at 160 F, it replaces MerCruiser 807252T2, 8072522, 8052732, 8M0091470 and 8M0109441, it crosses to Crusader 97895, GLM 13100, Mallory 9-43002 and Sierra 18-3649, and it is matched to the 18 model and serial ranges in the table below.
The thermostat sits in the housing at the top of the engine and is the cheapest part in the cooling system. It is also the one that causes the most false alarms, because a thermostat that sticks open reads as a cold running engine and one that sticks shut reads as an overheat within minutes of starting.
The rating is what matters. A 160 F thermostat opens earlier than the 180 F used on some engines, and fitting the wrong one changes the running temperature of the engine rather than fixing it.
These thermostats are matched by serial number range rather than by engine size, because MerCruiser changed the housing across model years without changing the displacement. The serial number on the engine is the number to check, not the horsepower on the cover.
The same thermostat is listed against the Crusader, GLM, Mallory and Sierra numbers, so if the old part is stamped with any of those it is the part this one replaces.

| Suzuki DF 70 / DF70W-K9 outboard | 1998 to 2009 |
These are the model and serial ranges given on the listing for this thermostat. On a MerCruiser the serial number is on a plate on the engine, and the range is the way to confirm the part rather than the model year alone, because the same engine model was built with more than one thermostat housing.
The last row is the Suzuki DF 70 and DF70W-K9 outboard from 1998 to 2009, which is listed with the MerCruiser engines because the thermostat is the same part. If your engine is not in the table, send us the model and the serial number and we will check the thermostat against it before you order.
