Product Overview
Complete thermostat kit for Volvo Penta 4.3 L, 5.0 L and 5.7 L petrol marine engines, the 262 CID V6 and the 305 CID and 350 CID V8 blocks, opening at 150 °F (66 °C). The kit is 1 x thermostat, 1 x O-ring and 1 x gasket, replacing 3587597, 3852111 and 3852071 and crossing to Sierra 18-3615.
This is the raw water cooled rating. Volvo Penta sets the 4.3, 5.0 and 5.7 petrol engines to open at 150 degrees Fahrenheit so the block stays cool on lake or sea water, and a hotter automotive thermostat will not do the same job.
If the engine never reaches temperature, the thermostat is stuck open and the ECU keeps enriching. If it climbs past normal on plane, it is stuck shut or the raw water pump is tired. Change the thermostat and check the impeller at the same time on these engines.

- Check the housing for corrosion, a pitted seat will leak with a brand new O-ring
- Check the raw water pump impeller at the same time, most overheating on these engines starts there
- Fit the O-ring and gasket dry and check they sit flat before the cover goes on
- Refill and run on muffs until the gauge reaches normal, then check for leaks at the housing
