Thermostat kit part rated at 60°C (140°F) for Volvo Penta marine engines, replacing 824912, 82812, 841951, 858640, 875781, 875790, 876080, 876097 and 876797, and crossing to Sierra 18-3656. It is supplied as 1 x thermostat.
The 60°C rating is the cold one in the Volvo range, used on the raw water cooled AQ and MD engines where the sea water is the coolant. Fitting a hotter thermostat to these motors raises the running temperature past what the raw water system is set up for.
It covers the MD diesel family from the MD1B through MD11 and MD17, and the AQ petrol range from the AQ60 up to the AQ130 and the BB and MB variants. The list below is the fitment list from Volvo, so match the engine plate rather than the model name on the cover.

Before You Buy
- Check the rating stamped on the old thermostat, these engines were built with 60°C and hotter versions
- Match the part against 876097 or 18-3656 before ordering, the housing gasket is a separate part
- Check the thermostat housing for corrosion, a pitted seat will leak past a new thermostat
- Fit the thermostat with the spring toward the engine, reversed it will not open
- Check the raw water impeller at the same time, an overheating engine is more often the pump
- Run the engine on muffs and watch the gauge reach and hold the normal band before launch
