VRO fuel pump kit replacing Johnson and Evinrude 600-156-01 on the 60 degree V6 Looper outboards from 150 HP to 175 HP. It fits the carburettor V6 loopers that were built with the VRO oil injection system, and it ships as one complete kit in a 135 mm x 240 mm x 160 mm box at 743 g.
This pump runs on premix. The original VRO unit mixed oil from a tank on the engine, and that system is the reason many of these motors are still in service with a sealed or bypassed oil side. Once the pump is fitted the engine is fed 50:1 from the boat tank, which is one pint of oil to six gallons of petrol.
The kit is the pump body plus everything that holds it on the engine: the long tail mounting bracket, three lengths of fuel hose, the hose fitting set, the clamps, the ties and the mounting screws. That is the difference between a bare pump and a kit that can be fitted in an afternoon without hunting for hardware.
Fitment covers the Johnson and Evinrude 60 degree V6 Looper motors at 150 HP and 175 HP, listed against the 1991 to 2006 model years. The whole 150-175 HP range shares the same pump body and the same 600-156-01 and v6150175 numbers, so the horsepower badge on the cowling does not change the part.
Follow the installation sheet that comes with the kit. The pump is a conversion part rather than a like for like swap of the original VRO assembly, so the hose routing and the bracket position matter and should not be improvised from the old unit.
