Product Overview
Water hose insert tool and insert kit for MerCruiser Bravo One, Bravo Two and Bravo Three transom assemblies, the parts that seat the plastic inserts inside the gimbal housing water hoses. The tool replaces 91-43579 and the two inserts replace 41674T, and the kit ships in a 150 mm x 180 mm x 30 mm box.
On a Bravo drive the raw water is carried from the gimbal housing to the engine through two hoses that pass through the transom plate. Each hose holds a plastic insert that stops the hose collapsing where it bends, and those inserts have to be pulled and seated without tearing the hose wall. That is the whole job this tool does.
The inserts are soft, the hoses are old, and the space between the transom plate and the engine is tight. A screwdriver or a pair of pliers will usually get the old insert out and will just as often damage the hose or leave the new insert cocked at an angle, which then chokes the water flow to the seawater pump on the first run of the season.
