Water Pump Impeller 334-65021-0 for Nissan Tohatsu 9.9 15 18 20 25 HP Outboard — Germany Local Warehouse
Product Overview
Water pump impeller for Nissan and Tohatsu outboards from 9.9 HP to 25 HP, supplied as one impeller, 8 blades, 40.80 mm (1.61 in) outside diameter, 13.96 mm (0.55 in) hub, 23.35 mm (0.92 in) deep, 14 g. It replaces Tohatsu 334-65021-0, also listed as 334650210 and 334650210M, and crosses to Sierra 18-8921. Delivered from our Germany local warehouse.
These motors spend the winter ashore across Germany and the Netherlands, and that is where the impeller quietly stops doing its job. Neoprene held folded in one position for months does not spring back when the boat goes in the water in April.
The set vanes still pump enough at planing speed to keep the warning light off, so the fault hides until the first long low-speed run of the season, usually on a canal where the motor idles for an hour. The telltale is the cheap check: if the stream is weak at idle on the first trip out, the impeller is the first part to look at.
The impeller is also the part that suffers most from cold water at the start of the season, since it is doing the same work at 8 °C as it would in summer with rubber that has just been released from a set position.

After the Winter Ashore
| Point in the Season | What the Impeller Does | What to Do |
|---|---|---|
| October, boat comes out | Drained, left folded in one position | Note the running hours |
| November to March | Neoprene takes a set, vanes stiffen | Plan the change, order the part |
| April, before launch | Set vanes will not straighten | Fit a new impeller at launch |
| First trip, cold water | Same work, stiffer rubber | Watch the telltale at idle |
| First long canal run | Weak flow, temperature climbs | Stop and check the impeller |
| Midsummer, hours logged | Normal wear | Replace at the manual interval |
Fitting Notes
| Step | Action |
|---|---|
| 1 | Check the model code on the cowling, the NFS and NS prefixes separate four-stroke from two-stroke |
| 2 | Compare the old impeller with the sizes above, 40.80 mm outside diameter identifies this one |
| 3 | Drain the gearcase oil first and look for water or metal before starting |
| 4 | Split the lower unit and note the blade direction |
| 5 | Check the wear plate, the cup and the housing for scoring |
| 6 | Lubricate with glycerine or liquid soap, then turn the shaft clockwise as the housing goes down |
| 7 | Fit the new gasket and seat the housing evenly |
| 8 | Run on muffs, then confirm the telltale at idle on the first trip of the season |
