Product Overview
Water pump impeller service kit for the Suzuki DF9.9 and DF15 four stroke outboards, the five piece kit that rebuilds the pump in one go. It replaces Suzuki 17400-94J00 and 17400-94J10, crosses to OMC Johnson Evinrude 5037545 and GLM 15230, and the impeller in the kit measures 39.36 mm overall diameter by 21.95 mm high on a 13.03 mm shaft with six vanes.
The kit is the five parts that wear together: the impeller, the stainless wear plate the impeller runs against, the pump body gasket, the tank cap gasket, and the drive key. Buying the impeller alone leaves the old plate and gaskets in place, and a scored plate wears the tips off a new impeller quickly, which is why the pump is normally rebuilt as a set.
The DF9.9 and DF15 share the same water pump, so one kit covers both. These are the small four strokes used on tenders, inflatables and small fishing boats, and they spend a lot of their life at trolling speed, where the pump is working against the lowest water flow and the impeller is most likely to overheat if the intake is restricted.
The impeller has a plastic hub and neoprene vanes, and it weighs 11 g on its own. Neoprene takes a permanent set when the engine is laid up with the vanes compressed against the housing, so an engine that ran fine at the end of the season can show a weak tell tale on the first run of the next one without the impeller being worn out in service.
Fitment is the Suzuki DF9.9 from 2007 to 2013 and the DF15 from 2007 to 2015 according to the engine listings, while our own fitment data goes back to 2004 for both models. If the engine is a 2004 to 2006 DF9.9 or DF15, check the pump number on the old housing before ordering, because Suzuki changed the pump on part of that run and the later kit will not seal on the earlier body.
