Water pump impeller kit for Yamaha 8 HP, 9.9 HP and 15 HP outboards, built around a 40.55 mm outside diameter, 6 blade neoprene impeller on a key drive shaft. It is a direct replacement part for Yamaha 682-44352-00, 682-44352-01, 682-44352-02, 682-44352-03 and 682-44352-40, and cross-references Sierra 18-3074. The kit covers the International and Outboard engine families from 1982 through 2006 as listed below. An impeller that has been left standing takes a set at the blades and stops moving water at low speed first, which is why the telltale often still runs at idle while the engine overheats on plane.

Before You Buy
- Verify your outboard model or serial number before ordering — the 9.9 HP and 15 HP were built across the 1980s and 1990s with more than one pump
- Fit a new key with every impeller; a worn key lets the impeller slip on the shaft and the engine overheats anyway
- Lubricate the impeller with soapy water or glycerine before fitting — never fit it dry or it will burn on first start
- Check the pump housing, wear plate and cup for scoring while the lower unit is apart
- Renew the gear oil at the same time, since the lower unit is already drained and open
