Water Pump Impeller Kit 6H3-44352-00 697-44352-00 18-3069 for Yamaha 40 50 60 70 HP Outboard
Water Pump Impeller Kit 6H3-44352-00 697-44352-00 18-3069 for Yamaha 40 50 60 70 HP Outboard
Product Overview
Water pump repair kit for Yamaha outboards from 40 HP to 70 HP, the three cylinder family that runs from 1984 to 2021. It replaces Yamaha 6H3-44352-00 and 697-44352-00 and crosses to Sierra 18-3069, and the kit carries the impeller, the drive key, two gaskets and the water seal damper.
The impeller is 51.8 mm (2.04 in) outside, 18 mm (0.71 in) at the hub and 19 mm (0.75 in) high with 6 blades on a key drive, moulded in hardened nylon with a neoprene body. The seal damper is the part most kits leave out, and it is the reason a rebuilt pump sometimes still weeps at the drive shaft.
It covers the 40 HP from 1995 to 2005, the 50 HP from 1995 to 2021, the 60 HP from 1991 to 2021 and the 70 HP from 1984 to 2019, plus the International 48 HP E48CMHS and E48MLH and the 55 HP C55EL, C55TL, CV55EL, 55B, CV55ED and E55CMHL.

Why the Seal Damper Matters
| What You Find | What It Means | What To Do |
|---|---|---|
| Damper hard and flattened | Pump weeps at the shaft after a rebuild | Fit the new damper from this kit |
| Damper missing entirely | Old kit left it out | Fit the new one with the impeller |
| Key sheared | Impeller stalled in the housing | Fit the key, check the shaft slot |
| Key missing | Impeller free on the shaft | Fit the key supplied |
| Gaskets torn on removal | Old gaskets stick to the plate | Use the two new gaskets |
| Housing liner grooved | Grit drawn through the pump | New liner or housing with the kit |
Three Cylinder Yamahas in Service
| How the Motor Is Used | Effect on the Impeller | What To Do |
|---|---|---|
| Tender and runabout, salt water | Salt dries the blades in the housing | Flush after every trip |
| Shallow ramps and sand | Grit scores the liner and plate | Check the liner at every change |
| Long trolling hours | Blades set on one side of the cam | Change on hours, keep a spare on board |
| Tilted up between trips | Pump drains and starts dry | Lower fully and prime before starting |
| Laid up over winter | Blades take a set | Renew in spring |
| Older 70 HP motors | Housing wear adds to impeller wear | Check the housing, not just the impeller |
Fitting Notes
| Step | Action |
|---|---|
| 1 | Check the number on the old impeller, 6H3-44352-00 crosses to Sierra 18-3069 |
| 2 | Check the horsepower and year against the table, the 70 HP runs back to 1984 |
| 3 | Drop the gearcase and note the blade direction before the old impeller comes out |
| 4 | Clean the housing and check the liner and plate for scoring |
| 5 | Fit the water seal damper and the key before the impeller |
| 6 | Grease the liner with glycerine or soap and fold the blades in the running direction |
| 7 | Fit both gaskets dry and tighten the housing evenly |
| 8 | Run in a tank and watch the telltale before the boat goes back in the water |
