Water pump impeller kit part for Yamaha 20 HP and 25 HP two stroke outboards, replacing kit 6L2-W0078-00 and 6L2-W0078-01-00 and crossing to Sierra 18-3431. It is supplied as 1 x impeller, 1 x insert, 1 x wear plate, 1 x key, 1 x O-ring and 4 x bolts.

The impeller measures 51.99 mm (2.05 in) outside diameter, 18.95 mm (0.75 in) high with a 13.65 mm (0.54 in) shaft and 6 neoprene blades on a plastic hub. It replaces the impeller 6L2-44352-00-00, and the kit carries the insert and wear plate that the pump needs at the same time.

It covers the 20 HP 20D from 1996 to 1997 and the 25 HP 25N two cylinder from 1988 to 2009. The insert is pressed into the housing, so the kit is a pump rebuild rather than a rubber change, and the wear plate sits over the insert under the blades.

Before You Buy

• Check the engine is the 20D or the two cylinder 25N, the three cylinder 25 uses a different insert
• Measure the old impeller at 51.99 mm outside and 18.95 mm high
• Press the new insert in square and flush, a tilted insert will bind the impeller
• Check the housing bore for corrosion before pressing, a pitted bore will not hold the insert
• Lubricate the impeller with soapy water and turn the shaft clockwise to set the blades
• Check the telltale at idle and again at planing speed on the first run
