Product Overview
Water pump impeller kit for Johnson and Evinrude outboards from 4 HP to 8 HP built between 1980 and 2005, supplied complete with the impeller, insert cup, outer wear plate, O-ring, gaskets, grommets and 4 stainless bolts. The impeller measures 38 mm outside diameter, 11 mm at the hub and 18 mm deep on a key drive with 6 blades. It replaces 396644, 0396644, 765603 and 389844, and crosses to Sierra 18-4529. Held in our Australia local warehouse.
On these small two-strokes the pump sits in the exhaust housing behind the propeller, which is why a failed impeller shows up as more than a weak telltale: the gearcase fills with exhaust and the motor loses power at the top end while still idling normally.
The kit covers the 4, 4.5, 5, 6, 7.5 and 8 HP motors including the 4 Deluxe and the four-stroke 5 and 6 HP. Check the year in the fitment table, because the early 4.5 HP and the later 5 HP use different housings.
