Water Pump Impeller Kit 17400-95351 for Suzuki DT75 DT85 75 85 HP 2 Stroke Outboard 18-3244 — Australia Local Warehouse
Product Overview
Water pump impeller kit for Suzuki DT75 and DT85 two-stroke outboards, the 75 HP and 85 HP models, supplied with the impeller, a stainless wear plate, a paper gasket and a drive key. It replaces Suzuki 17400-95351 and 17400-95350, plus Sierra 18-3244. Dispatched from our Australia local warehouse.
The pump lives in the lower unit, above the gearcase and behind the water intake grille. Sand, shell grit and weed come through that grille every trip, so the impeller is a consumable rather than a repair part. Suzuki specified the whole lower pump as a kit, which is why this one includes the stainless plate and the key rather than just the rubber star.
An Australian summer is hard on these. A pump that is marginal in winter will show itself on the first hot run of the season, with the tell-tale going weak at idle and the block temperature creeping up once the boat is on the plane. Once the vanes are set, no amount of flushing brings the flow back.

Why the Kit, Not Just the Impeller
| Part | What It Does | Why It Is in the Kit |
|---|---|---|
| Impeller | Moves the cooling water up to the block | The wear item, vanes take a set |
| Wear plate | Steel face the impeller runs against | Grooves cut flow even with a new impeller |
| Gasket | Seals the housing to the gearcase | Compressed on first fit, will not seal twice |
| Drive key | Locks the impeller to the shaft | Sheared keys look like a failed impeller |
Signs the Pump Needs a Kit
| Symptom | What It Points To |
|---|---|
| Tell-tale weak at idle | Vanes worn at the tips |
| Temperature climbs on the plane | Flow drops as rpm rises |
| Rubber dust in the housing | Vanes breaking up, flush the block |
| Water in the gearcase oil | Housing gasket or seals passing |
| Overheat alarm on muffs | Impeller set or the intake blocked |
| New impeller, no improvement | Wear plate grooved, key missing |
Fitting Notes
| Step | Action |
|---|---|
| 1 | Split the lower unit and drain the gear oil |
| 2 | Take the pump housing off and note the vane direction |
| 3 | Remove the old plate and gasket and clean both faces |
| 4 | Check the housing liner and the cup for grooves |
| 5 | Fit the new gasket and plate before the impeller |
| 6 | Seat the key in the shaft and slide the impeller down over it |
| 7 | Grease the liner and turn the shaft by hand to settle the blades |
| 8 | Refit the housing, tighten evenly and check the tell-tale on muffs |
