Water Pump Impeller Kit 46-807151A14 for MerCruiser V6 V8 4.3 5.0 5.7 6.2 Sterndrive — Germany Local Warehouse
Product Overview
Sea water pump impeller kit for MerCruiser V6 and V8 sterndrives and inboards, supplied as one complete kit: neoprene impeller with 8 blades on a D-shaped hub, stainless wear plate, cast alloy housing, two O-rings and the mounting bolts. The impeller measures 2 5/8 in (66.7 mm) across and 2 in (50.8 mm) thick, and the whole kit ships at 837 g in a 22 x 18 x 12 cm (8.7 x 7.1 x 4.7 in) carton. It replaces MerCruiser 46-807151A14 and 46-807151A7, and Sierra 18-3105. Shipped from our Germany local warehouse.
On these engines the sea water pump is belt driven and sits at the front of the engine, which changes how a failure announces itself. There is no lower unit to drop and no tell-tale on the leg to watch from the helm, so the first sign is usually the temperature gauge climbing on a long run, or a slack hose stream at the transom once the boat is back at idle.
The kit is complete for a reason. The cast housing and the stainless wear plate wear with the rubber, and a new impeller dropped into a scored housing still loses flow. With the housing, plate and O-rings in the same box the pump is renewed rather than patched, and the job does not depend on what the old parts look like once they are on the bench.
Where these engines live in Germany, the boat is often a river cruiser running at a steady 2,000 rpm for three hours at a time. That is a very different duty from planing bursts: the pump turns for hours, silt in the coolant path settles on the plate, and any rubber shed by a failing impeller ends up in the thermostat housing rather than out of the exhaust.
