Product Overview
Water pump repair kit, a complete pump service part for the Johnson and Evinrude V4 and V6 loopers from 65 HP to 300 HP. It replaces 0435929, 0777802 and 5001595, crosses to Sierra 18-3315-2, Mallory 9-48200 and GLM 12000, and contains the impeller 5001593, the housing 435959 / 5007968 and the cup and plate assembly 435027.
This is the kit for the big gearcase engines, the ones that push a 20 foot glass boat. The pump on them moves a lot of water and the impeller is a large, stiff part, so when it fails it fails fast: a vane that has taken a set will not seal at idle, and on a V6 at trolling speed that shows as a temperature climb within minutes rather than hours.
The kit covers the whole pump rather than the rubber alone. The stainless cup and the housing wear together, and a new impeller in a grooved housing will not hold pressure at high speed. It also carries the two O-rings, the grommets and the seals that are usually missed, which are the usual cause of a pump that still weeps after a rebuild.

Before You Buy
- Check the engine model and serial, the 65-300 HP range covers both the V4 and the V6 gearcases and the pump differs
- Compare the old housing with 435959 or 5007968, a different housing means a different kit
- Inspect the driveshaft splines and the gearcase seal while the pump is off, water in the gear oil usually starts here
- Lubricate the impeller with glycerine and turn the shaft clockwise as the housing goes down
- Fit the new grommets and O-rings from the kit, a reused grommet is the usual cause of a pump that will not prime
- Run the engine on muffs and confirm a strong telltale before the boat goes in the water
