Product Overview
Water pump rebuild kit for Johnson, Evinrude and OMC 25 HP and 35 HP outboards, sold as 389611 and 0389611, the complete set with the pump housing, the stainless cup, the wear plate, the impeller with its pin, a gasket, a grommet and four bolts. It is one kit in a 15 x 10 x 5 cm pack.
It fits the 25 HP from 1977 to 1983 and the 35 HP from 1976 to 1980. The housing and the cup are the parts that make this a rebuild kit rather than an impeller change: on a motor of that age the plastic housing is usually distorted and the stainless cup polished, and a new impeller in a worn housing under-pumps from day one.
The grommet and the bolts matter as much as the rest. The grommet seals the water tube into the pump, and a hardened one lets the pump draw air instead of water. Old bolts snap in the housing when you try to reuse them, which is why the kit includes four new ones.
