Product Overview
Trim tab anode, a direct replacement part for Yamaha 50 HP, 60 HP, 70 HP, 75 HP, 85 HP, 90 HP and 100 HP outboards. It replaces Yamaha 688-45371, 688-45371-00 and 688-45371-02, and crosses to Sierra 18-6070. The anode is cast in marine grade zinc and weighs 630 g with its packaging.
This is the sacrificial tab bolted to the underside of the anti ventilation plate, behind the propeller. It does two jobs: it steers the boat away from prop torque, and it corrodes instead of the drive housing.
Zinc is the grade to use in salt water and brackish water. Once the tab has gone chalky white and pitted, or half its thickness has gone, the aluminium around it starts to go instead. That is the point to change it.
